Why I wrote this book

Angel Child is a continuation of a greater story, but it is a story in its own right and can be read as such. It is written to take the reader just over the edge of the real world and into a fantasy world that is not that far removed from what is seen around them. With Angel Child, the reader follows the characters in the modern world while a story from the long forgotten past plays out and reveals their history on another world. A different take on Fantasy fiction for the reader looking for something different from Classic fantasy.

Synopsis

Angel Child is the forth in the series by Mark Garrett which examines the consequences of falling in love with a guardian angel. Five years have passed since Paul Sayers returned from Casserhan, the realm of lost souls. He raises his daughter, Ruth, with Rebecca, the guardian angel he fell in love with. Living on a narrow boat, Paul and Rebecca watch over Ruth, while seeking to avoid the followers of Storn, who are still hell bent on revenge. Ruth's unique parentage means she is exceptionally gifted and intelligent -and - like her mother before her - Ruth is destined to enter the Guardian Angel realm. Their idyllic family life can't last when former guardian Ellerstelle, still desiring the downfall of all the guardians, steals Ruth away intending to use her as a weapon against her guardian sisters. Paul must battle to rescue Ruth, as he once battled to save her mother, and in the process must come to terms with his own unique skills. Ruth meanwhile expands her own talents and uncovers the secret of her father's powers along the way...

About the Author

Mark Garrett

Mark Garrett was born and raised in the Fens of Cambridgeshire, where he still lives. Married, aged 47, when not writing for pleasure his real occupation is that of chauffeur for a carriage master, providing limousine services, mainly to the funeral trade.

Like the main character in Angels Cry Too, Mark enjoys 'playing' with classic cars, having owned a 1951 Morris Oxford for over twenty years. He is currently restoring a Lancia sports car. He also owned a Wolseley 6/80, as in the book, at one time.

Has written as a relaxing pastime for over fifteen years, and this book is a first foray into the world of publishing. It is hoped that further work with the characters in Angels Cry Too will follow.

Other interests include fell walking and observing the night sky. Mark is also studying with the the Open University for a degree in Natural Science.
