Having worked in independent film and fringe theatre I wanted the chance to develop some stories that didn’t have to be written with a budget in mind! As much as I love writing for those two mediums, the chance to write with total freedom and not have to worry about where to stage something or how to raise the money for it was wonderful!
This collection of stories features a wide selection of genres ranging from comedy, to the surreal, to horror and to drama. It is written in a way that plays with structure and expectations and presents an unpredictable world where the reader is never quite sure how the story will unfold. Instead of presenting the stories in isolation I have made the fictitious setting a central protagonist in itself and have overlapped characters and incidents. In doing so it gives the reader the opportunity to glean more from each story when the collection is read as a whole.
The book would appeal to fans of absurdist fiction and readers looking to be challenged, surprised or looking for something a little less conventional.

About the Author
Russell is a playwright and filmmaker based in the South West of England. Having trained in film production he has since worked as a writer and director in independent film as well as writing five plays, some of which he has produced and directed, which have been performed in London, Manchester and Salisbury. ‘Silent Bombs Falling On Green Grass’ is his first collection of short fiction.
