Why I wrote this book

The book tip-toes around my weird and wonderful fascination with Psychology. Lucy’s inhibitions and the behaviour of her mental state is often stifled and discouraged and leads to bizarre behaviour. It’s the proverbial padded cell if you like, where anger and mistrust can be thrashed out and addressed, and where if ignored, we do so at our peril.

This book is about the real thoughts taking place in our heads; the untouchable ones that nobody can reach or even guess about the force in which they are being applied.
It comes with more than a touch of naughtiness, of lust and forbidden fruit dreamed of and taking place amongst everyday people and professionals who sometimes struggle to conform and appear normal.

But the book’s also about compassion. The main characters in the story are all drawn together by a powerful need to help Lucy fight her own demons and learn to love and enjoy that time we hopefully all experience when we meet that certain somebody. People who know me would say there are segments of my own life hidden amongst the pages, but I have to say I haven’t personally researched all the physical stuff!

Readers should buy the book so they can identify their own references to life’s hidden frustrations. Most of my readers have been surprised how they can relate to segments of the story and that’s scary!

Synopsis

Is a little madness really so bad? Do we all possess that certain something that can try our patience to the point of menace? Look inside the secret mind of a woman scorned, dejected and teetering on the edge of lunacy. A woman whose eyes conceal a mind of menace and intrigue. Lilian Snipe will be seen, heard and much more. She's a lady who can hold a grudge with the derision and power of a thousand tempers, and a woman never to be crossed. She resides in a secret place only known to her closest associate - Lucy Delamarney, a young woman with a sad and precious past who finds life too challenging without the protective companionship of her bizarre and extraordinary confidante. Two personalities, drawn together by events that would change their lives and those around them forever. Kind, loveable Lucy, dangerously led by a woman intent on self-destruction. With a mind full of misdemeanour and an ambush at every turn, Lilian's hatred for all who come between her and Lucy results in barrage of wickedness and mistrust. She controls Lucy with a startling authority that leads as far as attempted murder and a multitude of broken hearts from the men who adore Lucy.

About the Author

I was born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, the fourth child of a London fireman. I began writing fiction over twenty years ago. After winning several short story competitions, I published two books: Bradley Pluck and the Skydrivers (2006) and Frogleboggleyes (2006), both aimed at 7-11 year olds. I proudly keep a collection of letters from children who wrote to me after enjoying the books so much. The reward is exhilarating, and I maintain that writing for children is my first love.

I am not an academic. I excelled at English in school and I write in the same style as my natural conversation. No elaboration, no PhDs, just the way I see it. Writing about sex and psychological suspense is rewarding, exhilarating and mischievous. I can crawl between the pages of my book and have a ball. The sheer magic of literature provides escapism and self worth. I write for my pleasure at every given moment in my topsy-turvy life and I hope people enjoy reading Lilian Snipe as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
