Synopsis

When a young and successful Max Hunter finds himself at the bitter end of a long-term relationship, he''s eager to find someone new, something better. With everything to offer, finding a potential partner should be simple. Shouldn''t it?

But the more women Max meets, the more his image of the sacred female is shattered by a steady stream of deranged, unsavoury and positively rapacious ladies. Are the men to blame for the decline of woman? Or are these insecure ‘independent’ women past the point of no return? Max must decide on his own terms whether the sexes are simply incapable of loving one another.

Reviews

A terrific debut - we've all been there. Toby Young

About the Author

GJH Sibson

GJH Sibson is a writer and journalist, who (before he smelt the coffee) used to practice as a lawyer, allegedly.  He is one of the lucky six million people crammed into London, although originally hails from the epicentre of the literary world, Norfolk.

He started writing at the age of four, because Mrs Bergall said he had to.  Single White Failure is an almost true account of his experiences of dating the chimera that is the ''''modern independent woman''''.  Unless, of course, it''''s his mum asking, in which case, not a word of it is true, it''''s pure fiction.

Sibson was so incensed by how men are pigeonholed in life, and in literature, that he set about writing his first novel, a testament to the efforts of the modern man to find the right woman - one who offered more than an eager womb and a series of psycho-sexual hang ups. This is the result - it is Sibson''''s dating dogma for both sexes.

Sibson is working on his next book, and hopes to do a sequel to Single White Failure.  He would like to thank all those friends who helped with the material for the book, and is just sorry that they no longer speak to him.
