Why I wrote this book

Synopsis

Travels with My Heart is designed as an antidote to the shock and depression that often follows a cardiac incident. This book, though light-hearted, is deadly serious about the value of adventurous and unusual travel as a route to mental and physical recovery.

The book is packed with travel information, health tips and a comprehensive listings section. It also examines the world's cuisines to find out how heart-friendly they really are. It looks at a wide variety of travel opportunites both in the UK and overseas for the wide range of people with heart conditions.

The author also describes some of the travel adventures he undertook to help him recover from his own heart attack

This guide has been written primarily to help those with  heart conditions get back to health and fitness  but it also aimed at all couch potatoes who might too end up as coronary victims if they are not careful.
The book is packed with travel and health information, plus lovely descriptions of the author's own travel adventures.

Reviews

HeartUK Magazine: "...much more than a travel guide for people with heart conditions... that is really the book's central idea: that travel gives you the motivation to get the type of exercise your heart needs."

HEART UK Digest: "A travel guide packed with health tips is essential reading ... but this is much more than a travel guide ... I found lots of travel ideas and activities that were new..."

Ranulph Fiennes: “A great book and great travels. I recommend it to those with cardiac problems, as well as to their families and friends.”
