Why I wrote this book
I’ve always loved the written word and had great encouragement from my old junior school headmaster. Senior school did its best to beat fiction out of me, but never succeeded. I wrote poetry and short stories for pleasure for many years, but was always waiting for that stimulus to write a novel length work. It wasn’t because I didn’t have ideas it was just putting them down. A chance meeting with a lovely girl at an old car rally (I’ve never seen her since and I’m certain she must’ve been my guardian angel giving me the prompt) finally gave me the impetus and plot lines necessary to write Angels Cry Too back in 1992.
Angels Cry Too is an adult fantasy thriller that contains adult themes, taking the reader into a darker world that thrives on evil, yet is undone by good and love. Here the central character has his feet grounded in the real world yet has to come to terms with what lies just out of reach of the norm. It may have a fantasy element, but reality plays more than a large part in the story and has the reader thinking about how they would deal with such disturbing challenges if they were faced with them.
Angels Cry Too is not a ‘heavy’ read, but isn’t forgotten easily either. I’ve been told this often by readers. It’s a thriller, but not ‘cops and robbers’. It’s dark but has its lighter moments too. Want a slice of fantasy but don’t want wizards, spells and dragons on every other page? If you take it to its roots, Angels Cry Too is a simple story of good against evil, yet its twists and turns reveal surprises and the hint that not everything and everyone are what you think they might be.
