Why I wrote this book

This book brings together for the first time the amusing, poignant and often whimsical writings of that loveable old duffer, Dr Ken B Moody. Dr Moody, a GP in the beautiful Scottish Borders, writes of his experiences in a regular column in local newspapers. He kindly agreed for his friend and confidant, David Carvel, to select and assemble the best of these articles for a wider readership. This volume contains a greater mixture of anecdotes and medical cases than a dispensary full of pills. It is hoped that they do not leave you, the reader, feeling light-headed, nauseated or having an urgent need to visit the lavatory. Rather, they may be just the tonic you need. Like medication, it is suggested that these articles are not all consumed in one go; instead it is respectfully advised that the reader returns at specified intervals for measured and therapeutic doses.

About the Author

Dr Ken B Moody was rather too self-effacing to submit details for the purposes of a biography. We can glean from his writings though that he is a hard-working GP, a decent fellow and an above average wit. He is no spring chicken and cannot be far from retirement. He was once quoted as saying that he will continue working and writing until the letters of complaint outnumber the Thank You cards. We can only hope this is not soon if these witty memoirs are anything to go by.
