Why I wrote this book
Twenty years ago I met a girl and knew within a couple of weeks that she was 'the one.' After three months of unbridled, blissful infatuation, however, I started to become curious about her past life, specifically, her previous relationships. I became obsessed with knowing every detail, and the more I knew, the worse I felt. I was eaten up with jealousy of the worst kind - one I could do nothing about - and, for a short period, I lost all perspective. Fortunately, I recovered from this trip to the dark side and was relieved to learn that retrospective jealousy is by no means peculiar to me. Indeed, my research revealed that it is a relatively common phenomenon and I felt inspired to explore it further by writing /Losing It. /I found the writing process cathartic but thoroughly enjoyable, not least because it gave me a chance to spread my wings beyond my comedic roots. The book deals with contemporary life and relationships and I hope it is not lacking in wit, but it is essentially a psychological thriller with a final, shocking twist. Incidentally, I married that girl and we now have two gorgeous kids!
Synopsis
Sarah Francis is a modern woman; independent, cool, funny, cynical. She's never needed a man, never craved a meaningful relationship. At least, not until Matt Coltman enters her life. He's not just another man, another conquest. He's essential. So what's he doing messing around with that girl who Sarah herself recruited to work at her office? And why did he have relationships with so many women before he met Sarah? She can never really have him, never possess him, until he stops spoiling Sarah's paradigm of the perfect relationship. Obsession and retrospective jealousy impel Sarah into an inexorable spiral of violence and destruction. Can she stop herself before she learns the appalling truth?Reviews
