Jackie Martin
Hello, I’m Jackie Martin. I’m a former cartoonist and children’s entertainer with many years’ experience working as a teaching assistant and private tutor. I grew up in Langley, near Slough, but I’ve lived in Beaconsfield for the last 8 years with my husband and daughter, and German shepherd who recently passed away.
I have a First-class (Honours) Degree in Psychology and I’ve always been passionate about enhancing the learning experiences of young people and raising their self-esteem. So, now that I don’t have a lovely old dog to look after, I’m looking forward to qualifying as a primary school teacher in 2012.
Although my stories have received lots of interest from publishers and literary agents over the years, it has taken me a long time to hone my writing skills and become a published author. I persevered mainly due to the encouragement of Cornerstones and Kids’ Corner:
“This book is very accomplished – almost faultless – timely, poignant and moving”
…It has “several strong characters and a lively plot.”
“This story has great integrity and… would appeal to both boys and girls.”
It “could be an important addition to any child’s reading experience.”
