I seem to be a ‘girl who just can’t say no’ and as a result I’ve had an exciting life. At sixteen I had twins, at sixty I trekked up Kilimanjaro. I’ve lived in many countries and sailed round the world. Most of my life has centred around children – 4 from my 30 year marriage (still saying ‘yes’), 7 grandchildren and hundreds of pupils and students. For the most part domestic life and teaching have provided great joy and satisfaction.
Writing is something I've done with my shoes stuck to the kitchen floor or lashed into my bunk amid southern ocean rollers. I’ve developed my writing skills through poetry, plays and stories to keep fidgety children entertained, but it is only in my current location, a remote mountain village in Portugal, where I’ve found the peace and endurance required for novel writing.
